EDITORIAL

Welcome to the 1st Edition of our Tourism News for 2013.We must all rejoice at the visitor arrival figures for the year 2012. Yes we all rallied as an industry, as a people and as a country and we can say that we have delivered for Seychelles. The success in visitor arrival numbers has reopened the debate about the yield from tourism. This has been an ongoing point of concern and we have heard the forceful explanations by Alain St.Ange, the Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture making clear that the hotel rates are pitched by the private sector and that this remains a matter of competition, not amongst hotels in Seychelles, but with hotels of the region. Tourism Industry from Praslin & La Digue meet

Members of the SHTA from Praslin and La Digue met at a General Meeting of the Seychelles Hospitality & Tourism Industry (SHTA) held at La Reserve Hotel on Praslin last Saturday 26 January 2013. The Praslin and La Digue tourism professionals meeting was organised for their Industry's Association to be better updated on pertinent challenges their island members were being faced with. The Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, Mr Alain St.Ange, accompanied by Mrs Elsia Grandcourt, the CEO of the Tourism Board, Ms Jenifer Sinon, the Board's Director for Administration and HR and Mrs Sabrina Agathine, the Head of Marketing from Air Seychelles joined the Executive Board Members of the SHTA for the Praslin meeting.[...]
