Consultative Meetings as part of Tourism Master Plan begins
As part of the preparatory works for the drafting of the Seychelles Tourism Master Plan, STB is organising a series of consultative meetings with all sectors of the industry and key partners to get their inputs and views for the Master plan. This bottom up approach has as its core aim, enusring that everybody is consulted in the drafting of a Tourism Master plan that will spearhead and guide the development of the Seychelles Tourism industry for the next ten years. One of the first groups to be consulted was the Seychelles Bankers’ Association; Barclays Bank, Bank of Baroda, Savings Bank, Nouvobanq and MCB. The meeting held at the STB head office in Bel Ombre was attended by STB Chief Executive; Alain St Ange, his deputy Elsia Grandcourt and the Chief Executive of the Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association; Jennifer Sinon. Also present were representatives of the Ministry of Investment, Natural Resources and Industry, the Seychelles Investment Bureau and the Small Enterprise Promotion Agency.
The consultative meeting, which was just one part of the process of developing this guide for Seychelles’ tourism, had all parties looking at the constraints and obstacles experienced in the tourism sector, which in turn affect theability to do business and hence the potential for tourism development. Recommendations on how to enhance business in this industry were also discussed. The STB will be holding similar meetings with all industry stakeholders both private and public sector that are linked to tourism. The first meeting was held with local Destination Management Companies and the second was with the large hotels.
